Lower Site Visit the Knife Angel
Key stage 3 visited the famous Knife Angel sculpture 11th February 2020. The Knife Angel is a 27ft sculpture crafted out of 100,000 knives that have been surrendered to police forces across the country. It is also known as the National Monument against violence and aggression.
Alongside seeing the sculpture, we were kindly given the opportunity to meet Alison Madgin, who presented a beautiful presentation about her 18-year-old daughter Samantha, who was sadly stabbed to death in 2007. In the legacy of her daughter, Alison’s created a campaign called ‘Samantha’s legacy’ which is an organisation to help tackle knife crime and support families. She hopes her campaign will help steer the next generation in Newcastle away from violence.
